
Therapist, Family Mediator, and Parenting Coordinator
Matt Smith Rubio is a family mediator, parenting coordinator, and therapist in private practice. His specialties are relationships, divorce, and co-parenting. Matt earned a BA in Linguistics from Yale University and a Master of Science in Social Work from UT Austin. He's spent his career on people - what makes us tick and how we connect with each other. He has a passion for helping people understand each other across barriers, whether that's a language barrier or an acrimonious divorce. Outside of his private practice, Matt has taught social work at The University of Texas at Austin and Texas State University. He is a co-owner of MESA Dispute Resolution, where he provides mediation trainings for the Dispute Resolution Centers of Travis and Tarrant Counties; and for the Texas A&M School of Law. Matt has also provided trainings for the PRPC Dispute Resolution Center (Amarillo) and the Texas Association of Mediators. Matt is bilingual in English and Spanish. He has particular expertise in LGBTQ+ people and their relationships. He's the founder of AustinDivorceGroups.com, a website listing divorce & separation support groups serving the Austin area.
