Matrimonial and Family Law Attorney
Amber Yerkey James is the founder of New Beginnings Family Law, P.C., a distinguished family law firm based in Huntsville, Alabama. Her practice is devoted exclusively to family law, providing strategic and compassionate representation in matters involving divorce, child custody, adoption, surrogacy, and assisted reproductive technology (ART) law. Amber earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1998, where she was honored as the university’s Most Outstanding Music Student. She continued at UAB to receive her Master of Business Administration in 2000 before pursuing her Juris Doctor, graduating with honors from Birmingham School of Law in 2006. Her legal career began under Judge Ralph Alton Ferguson Jr. in the Jefferson County Domestic Relations Court, where she discovered her true calling to help families navigating difficult transitions. In 2006, Amber launched her own practice, initially named the James Family Law Center, and later rebranded it as New Beginnings Family Law in 2014. Under her leadership, the firm has earned recognition for addressing complex family law issues, including ART, and for its client-centered approach helping families heal and move forward. Amber became board-certified in Family Law Trial Advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy in 2019 and is a trained mediator. She frequently teaches continuing legal education seminars on surrogacy, mediation, and advanced family law topics. Amber is an active member of the Alabama State Bar, the Huntsville-Madison County Bar Association, the Women’s Business Council, and the Women’s Economic Development Council. Her personal experiences as a wife and mother of two children have shaped her guiding philosophy: that every family deserves the opportunity for a healthy new beginning.
